The Collection

Built for two, or for the whole cabin.

Three barrel saunas, each named for one of the lakes we live between. Same materials, same joinery, same care. Choose by how many people you'd like to share the heat with.

No. 01

The Wingra

after the smallest of Madison's lakes
From$9,800
Side and front elevations of the Wingra: six feet long, six feet in diameter, with a glass door and chimney

Small, quick to heat and easy to place. The Wingra is the sauna you'll use on a Tuesday.

Six feet of thermally modified spruce, with benches facing each other across a single warm room. A wood-fired Wingra comes up to temperature in about forty minutes. It fits beside a garage, at the end of a city lot, or tucked into a corner of the garden.

Best for

  • Couples and small households
  • Smaller yards and urban lots
  • Quick weeknight sessions

The Monona

after the lake that wraps the isthmus
From$13,900
Side and front elevations of the Monona: eight feet long including a two-foot covered porch, seven feet in diameter

Our most-loved size. Room for the family, and a covered porch to cool off on.

The staves run two feet past the front wall to make a sheltered porch, a place to sit between rounds, kick off boots and leave towels out of the snow. Inside, the seven-foot diameter gives you full-length upper benches and room to stretch out.

Best for

  • Families and regular guests
  • People who like to linger between rounds
  • Winter use, with the porch kept clear of snow

The Mendota

after the largest of the four lakes
From$19,500
Side and rear elevations of the Mendota: twelve feet long with a changing room, seven feet in diameter, with a half-round panoramic glass rear wall

A changing room, a long hot room, and a wall of glass facing whatever you love to look at.

The Mendota is a small building in its own right. A three-and-a-half-foot changing room keeps coats and cold air out of the heat. Beyond it, eight feet of benches face a half-round panoramic window: the lake, the woods, or your own snowy garden at dusk.

Best for

  • Larger households, cabins and retreats
  • Properties with a view worth framing
  • Hosting: six to eight bathers at once

Materials

Two woods, both honest.

We build in thermally modified spruce as standard. It's what we'd choose for our own yards. Western red cedar is available for those who want its color and its scent.

Thermo-spruce

Standard. Dimensionally stable, rot-resistant, low-resin. Rich chocolate color that silvers gracefully outdoors.

Western red cedar

From +$1,600. Naturally aromatic and warm-toned, the classic sauna wood. Slightly softer, with beautiful grain.

Options & add-ons

Make it yours.

Add these when you configure your sauna, or later. Most can be fitted after installation.

Electric heater

+$1,200

In place of the wood stove. Includes a wall controller with phone scheduling. Requires a dedicated 240V circuit; we coordinate the electrician.

Panoramic glass rear wall

+$1,400

The Mendota's half-round window, for the Wingra or Monona. Standard on the Mendota.

Cold plunge barrel

+$2,800

A matching insulated soaking tub with a lid and a drain. Fill it from the hose; in winter, let Wisconsin chill it.

Outdoor shower

+$1,100

A cedar-slatted post shower with a gravel soakaway. Cold water from a hose bib, or plumbed by your plumber.

Shingle roof cap

+$900

Asphalt shingles over the crown. Not required, but it adds decades to a sauna that sits under dripping trees.

Warm bench lighting

+$350

Low, amber LED strips under the benches. Enough light to see, not enough to wake you up.

Gravel foundation pad

+$850

Excavated, edged and compacted crushed stone, sized to your model. Free during our Founding Season.

Accessory set

+$240

Wooden bucket and ladle, thermometer and hygrometer, and two contoured headrests.

Prices are in US dollars and include delivery and installation within 30 miles of the Capitol Square. Sales tax is extra.
